Anime To Look Out For In 2022

Aside from the highly anticipated Part Two of Shingeki No Kyoujin Season 4, and the second season of Kimetsu No Yaiba, fans are eagerly awaiting the follow-ups to some of their popular favorites such as Mob Psycho 100, Vinland Saga, and The Devil is a Part-Timer. This is in addition to the new titles that have been announced to air in 2022. Our list will help you stay ahead and tell you where all these anime will air so you can check/build your own to-watch list for this year’s major anime.

Famous horror artist Junji Ito’s much-awaited manga-based series is set to come out this October on Adult Swim. It is the story of Kurouzu-Cho, a town plagued by curses on all living and non-living beings. The show is going to be in black and white and will be covered in 4-episode miniseries, just like the manga.

It released in 2021 and became one of the best anime of the year for its uniqueness. This Yoshitoki Oima series follows an orb that is sent to the Earth by a Creator to observe, learn, and gain as much knowledge as possible. It takes on several forms like rock, wolf, and sometimes even a white-haired boy. The series shows and explores all the experiences and challenges that this entity encounters. To Your Eternity anime is set to return with its second season in the Fall of 2022.

Consistently declared as one of the most impressive anime since its release in 2016 by its fans, the anime follows the journey of Mob, a powerful esper who starts training under con-man Reigen after he realizes the true dangers of his powers. After the first two seasons, the 3rd season was announced in October 2021, with the same behind-the-scenes cast and produced by Studio Bones again. Mob Psycho Season 3 is going to be available on Crunchyroll and HBO Max.

The decade-long series with its huge fanbase finally reaches its much-anticipated ending, with the fight for humanity against Titans. It started as a fairly simple anime with humans against monsters but soon expanded into a very complicated and intricate political drama along with all the action. The episodes are currently airing every Sunday and needless to say, are sending stress waves throughout fans worldwide. The fans are also divided on whether the ending is the best or the worst.

Based on Satoru Nodu’s manga released in 2014, the anime Golden Kamuy is returning after 2020 with its fourth season. With Studio Brain Base working on it after Geno Studio, this historical series will continue the story of Saichi Sugimoto and Asirpa in the era of the Russo-Japanese War. The release date and platforms of the coming season have not yet been announced but it will be sometime mid-year.             

Vinland Saga

Based on Makoto Yukimura’s manga of the same name, this historical anime quickly became one of the best anime series of 2019. With the same behind-the-scene cast, Vinland Saga Season 2 is set to release in 2022. However, no official announcement for Vinland Saga Season 2  release date has been made yet. It will be available on Amazon Prime Video, giving fans enough time to catch up with the 11th century England setting of the series where Thorfinn joins the crew of fighters to take revenge on Askeladd.

The battle between the Hashiras and Muzan’s Upper and Lower Moons continues. After the heartbreaking Mugen Train ending, fans are now both hyped and happy as Demon Slayer is currently airing with new episodes every Sunday. With the fight between Tanzen Uzui and Upper Moon 6, the Demon Slayer Entertainment District Arc has been something fans have been looking forward to every weekend. It remains to be seen what happens by the end of 25 episodes, but it will surely create even more hype for the next season!

Hirohiko Araki’s beloved manga series characterized by its unique art style is once again all set to air in 2022. The bizarre adventures span geographically across Egypt, England, and Japan and the timeline goes from the 1800s to the 2010s. This season of the unique series will focus on the story of the first female protagonist Jolyne Cujoh, after she has been incarcerated in Florida wrongfully. This is the 6th installment in the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure series and its first part is already done with! Netflix released the first batch of 12 episodes on December 1, 2021, but didn’t give any information about the release of Episode 13 and onwards. But since it actually began airing in Japan in January 2022, details might be announced in the coming months according to that schedule.

The series gained incredible popularity and is all set to premiere in April ‘22. Fans are patiently waiting to see if the President and the Vice-President finally put the “tsun” from the tsundere aside and confess their feelings to each other. Will it happen though? Or will we see a new turn of events altogether?

Released almost a decade ago in 2014, Bleach is finally getting the much-awaited ending it deserves with the most awaited of all Bleach arcs, which is the final arc – *drumrolls* The Thousand-Year Blood War! Based on the manga, fans were divided on whether this was the worst or the best arc. Studio Pierrot with director Tomohisa Taguchi is coming back together to create the final season for one last time and it is set to release in the October of 2022.

Already extremely popular, the manga was serialized in 2018 by Shueisha’s Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine. It follows the story of Denji, as he tries to pay off his father’s debts by hunting devils. That is the case until he finds himself fused with a devil to become half-human and half-devil. Fans have been eagerly awaiting the release date of Chainsaw Man, however, no official announcements have been made for the release date yet; but we can expect and hope for it to be released sometime in 2022.

After the Boku No Hero Academia Season 5 release, fans were eagerly waiting for the announcement of its next season. The sixth season was announced to be aired in Fall 2022 through the December Jump Festa event in 2021. The short trailer teases the upcoming battle from the Paranormal Liberation War arc, with some of the most legendary battles in the series. It’s something to be really hyped about for the followers of this superhero-action anime!

The story of the Demon Lord working in a modern-day fast food restaurant has grown a surprisingly large following since its release in 2013. And after 8 years, the series is finally getting a second season! The Devil is a Part Timer Season 2 is set to air sometime this year as Studio 3Hz is working alongside the new director Daisuke Tsukush. It remains to be seen how they continue the story especially after how a lot of fans were upset with the end of the previous installment.

Now that’s an incredible line-up of anime that awaits us in 2022! Quite a few old ones are getting new seasons and there are even really promising new releases as well.
